Try The Every Other Day Diet.

All of us have tried dieting in one form or another at some point. There is a vast array on offer and you need to choose one you know you will stick to and that is going to suit you. You could choose to try it with a diet club or on your own, try the every other day diet.

The basic principle of this diet is to eat normally (a normal diet) one day and the next day you only consume 300 to 400 calories.

The theory behind this diet is that you do not slow your metabolism down by starving yourself as this is one way that you will actually not lose weight or even gain weight on a diet.

In other diets when your body goes into starvation mode, you may find that rather than losing the weight that you wanted you either do not lose weight or you may find that you even put it on.

A retired kidney specialist came up with the diet as he thought it would be beneficial for some people. There is no doubt that this type of diet may suit some but would be unwise for people with already diagnosed health problems to follow.

You must speak to your doctor prior to starting any diet as those with health problems should possibly follow a doctors orders for dieting.

It is essential when following any diet that a large quantity of your food comes from fruit and vegetables. So find appealing and tasty ways to eat those within your diet.

When you are having your lower calorie day try and balance fruit and vegetables with protein. It is dangerous to not eat much food and can make you very unwell. It is also important to stay well hydrated and to drink at least 7 glasses of fluid throughout the day.

On the day of your lower calorie intake if you do start to feel faint then have a sweet drink or eat some chocolate or similar sugary food to bring your blood sugar back up. Or have peanut butter on toast with a banana.

Never follow a crash diet where you literally starve yourself as this will serve in making you feel unwell and you would not necessarily lose weight anyway and may even gain weight if your body thinks that it is going to be starved and have no food.

It is a good idea to exercise to help the weight come off, but do not do this on the day when you have a low calorie consumption as you will not have consumed enough calories to sustain an exercise programme and you could pass out. Eventually the weight will come off and you will feel great.
