Don’t be deceived by these “latest and greatest” diets. They all claim that they have the fastest way of helping you to burn fat, build muscle, and get into the shape of your life. This is great for public relations and media hype, but that doesn’t translate to a healthier you. Most of these weight loss plans will help you to lose weight temporarily, but they are completely unsustainable. I have many family members who have lost a lot of weight doing a low or no carb diet. Guess what happened once they started eating normal again? They put all the weight back on, and often even more.

Burn Fat, Build Muscle Do #1 – Eat Less and Eat Healthy

To burn fat, build muscle, and get the lean body that you want, you need to make sure that you are eating right. You need to get plenty of proteins and plenty of fiber, but make sure to avoid processed foods (the hydrogenated oils, high fructose corn syrup, and artificial trans fats in most processed foods are a definite diet killer). Carbs are fine, as long as you balance them with fiber. This means that fruits and vegetables are great, but stay away from fruit juices.

Burn Fat, Build Muscle Don’t #2 – Cardio is a Waste of Time

Despite all that you hear, cardio is not the most efficient way to start burning fat and building muscle. For a tone body, cardio is a waste of time. 30 to 40 minutes 3 days a week on a treadmill may burn a few calories, but it will not change your metabolism or your body’s hormonal response to exercise.

Burn Fat, Build Muscle Do #2 – Do Interval Training

More intense interval training program is much more effective if you desire to burn fat, build muscle, and look great. Your heart works best with working out at varying levels to help it to handle the stresses that life is sure to deliver, and interval training gives better results in much less time.

Burn Fat, Build Muscle Don’t #3 – Don’t Take Any Diet Capsules

If a diet program talks about diet pills, run! In effect all (I say nearly because there may be a valid one on the marker, but I have never heard of one) diet capsules are a complete waste of money. Just like there is no actual get rich quick scheme, there is no lose weight quick pill. Just trust me on this one, steer clear!

Burn Fat, Build Muscle Do #3 – Do Keep On Keeping On

Like anything else, if you want to succeed and start to burn fat, build muscle, and look great, effort is required. Pick a diet program and keep at it. If it is a good program, it will not promise overnight results, and you should not expect them. Stick with the program and as your diet and exercise become a habit, your results will quicken also.
