Flash back  to what you loved to eat at five, and you will better accept why we prefer dessert and don&#8217;t want to eat our veggies. <p>Let&#8217;s start with an glaring example. If you truly want to lose weight, you need to stay away from from fast food. That Big Mac you just ate had 570 calories and 32 grams of fat. The large fries added another 500 calories and 25 grams of fat. The large (32 oz.) chocolate shake? A cool and creamy 1,160 calories and 27 grams of fat.  That one meal will put you over your daily recommendations for calories and fat. Even a ranch dressed southwest chicken salad has 600 calories and 24 grams of fat. I&#8217;ll admit that it is not always easy, but it is possible to remove fast food. I very rarely eat fast food these days and I can feel a difference. This is the one thing that made the biggest impact on my own health and energy.</p>
<p>How to Lose a Fat Stomach Step #2 &#8211; No Fat Free Foods!</p>
<p>This seems bizarre, that in order to lose fat, I am telling you to stay away from fat free items. There are several reasons for this. First, when they take the fat our, sugar is added instead. As sugar is added, so are calories, more carbs, and consequently your weight loss will stop. A second reason is that psychologically, when you see a fat free label, you think it is safe to eat as much as you want. I have many friends who make a pig of themselves on fat free cake thinking that it won&#8217;t impact their weight loss since it is fat free. Surprisingly, they are still overweight. Finally, is that when fat is removed, chemicals are often added. I prefer to eat foods the way that God made them, not the &#8220;miracles&#8221; of science. I find myself feeling much healthier when I eat natural as opposed to processed foods. I know that this is unscientific, but I am much more likely to eat healthy if it makes me feel healthy and energized.</p>
<p>How to Lose a Fat Stomach Tip #3 &#8211; Stop the Fruit Juice!</p>
<p>Another surprising food that will stop weight loss in its tracks is actually a drink &#8211; fruit juices. They seem healthy, especially those that claim to be 100% juice. The trouble with fruit juices is that it takes everything &#8220;bad&#8221; about a fruit (sugar, calories, and carbs) and strips out everything &#8220;good&#8221; about a fruit (fiber, feeling full). Here are the last 2 basic to follow hints that will lead you to eat healthier and get slimmer in a way that you can stick with for life.</p>
<p>Eat Healthier Step #4 &#8211; Don&#8217;t Be Late for Dinner</p>
<p>Or eat late at all really. Your body needs time to digest food and burn calories before you retire for the night. Pick a time several hours before you turn in and refuse to eat any later. I will not eat anything after 8:00 and this gives my body a good 3 hours to digest and burn calories before I settle in for the night. It can take some planning to schedule your day beforehand to allow you time to eat dinner early enough, but it will become a habit quickly.</p>
<p>Eat Healthier Tip #5 &#8211; Eat Like a Kid Again</p>
<p>As a disclaimer, this is not at all scientifically based. This is my better half&#8217;s theory, and the more people that I talk to, and as I read further, the more I think she might be right. Her belief goes that your body gets used to the way you ate growing up, and learns to process those kinds of foods better than others. If you ate rice everyday (like she did) growing up, your body is not going to know what to do with a low/no carb diet. People who were raised in other cultures often become sick or have a &#8220;heavy&#8221; feeling when eating western food, even if it seems well balanced. I am not at all advocating that you continue to eat a poor diet because that is what you ate as a youngster, but be mindful of the healthier foods you ate in abundance and don&#8217;t elimintate them from your diet.</p>
<p>Between the two sections, there are five simple to follow rules.  If you are serious about your health and your weight, these rules are a great place to start.  But keep reading, and don&#8217;t quit!  The important thing to remember is that you can do it.  It will take some effort, and it won&#8217;t always be fun, but believe me it is worth it.  I feel better than I have in ages, and my wife tells me I look great!</p>
